The Presiding Bishop of Perez Chapel, Bishop Charles Agyin Asare is calling for the prosecution of people who sell lands on waterways as one of the first steps towards dealing with the perennial flooding in Accra.

“We can’t always go and come back to point zero and every time there is a flood we see presidents help in clearing the debris; it must stop” he stressed.

The Perez Chapel leader noted that Wednesday’s torrential rains and fire disasters that claimed about 150 lives has afforded an opportunity for the authorities in charge to demolish buildings on waterways to avoid a recur of such pandemonium.

“This is the time authorities must breakdown building on waterways. Everyday has seen how this rain has wrecked havoc” he bemoaned.

Bishop Agyin Asare also urged Ghanaians to quit the blame game on neighbours and government.

Rather, he said the citizenry should have a difference orientation on how they disposed of rubbish in their homes.

“Stop the blame game; your neighbours are not the ones to blame at this time. this is the to blame government instead, this is time for us as a people to stop throwing rubbish into our drains and gutters and take the National Sanitation Day seriously. #NambePatrickGH
